For years, community leaders, elected officials, concerned citizens, environmental groups, and local visionaries have sought ways to restore the Los Angeles River’s natural beauty and rich ecological diversity. A collaborative effort resulted in the 2007 Los Angeles River Master Plan, which outlines improvements that celebrate neighborhoods, protect wildlife, promote the river’s health, and leverage economic development while maintaining flood protection and safety.
In May 2014, the Army Corps of Engineers recommended a $1 billion commitment to the revitalization of the river in support of the 20-year Plan. The Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles is proud to work closely with stakeholders to directly support the LA River Master Plan.
