Launched in March 2020, the L.A. Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund was created to respond in real-time to the immediate health care and social service needs of Angelenos and move money quickly to where it is needed most. In partnership with the City, the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles has quickly deployed millions of dollars to directly support those in need, including:
Supplying meals, essential supplies, supportive services, emergency relief, and other community resources for vulnerable Angelenos, families, workers, and small businesses whose lives have been disrupted by the COVID-19 outbreak.
Providing childcare support, access to personal protective equipment, and other resources for the heroic healthcare workers and first responders on the frontlines of this health crisis.
Providing direct financial assistance for residents via prepaid debit cards available to low-wage/hourly workers whose jobs were affected by the pandemic. A majority of the funds have been used for food and household essentials; programs include: Angeleno Card, SERVE, and GIVEN.
